DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\n“My metamorphosis is tradition\,\nfor tradition is precisely change and reinvention of another skin.”\nSalvador Dali \n  \nIf metamorphosis is the art of freeing oneself from time\, context and rational thought\, Salvador Dalí made it a key element of his creative process: variations\, transformations\, anamorphoses\, disguises\, the assimilation of every new invention\, and creative bulimia accompanied his quest for the living painting\, an expression of a fictional reality\, an augmented reality that he wanted to achieve. The images he transforms into sculptures\, jewellery and holograms\, the three-dimensional projection of his pictorial work\, invent a way of visualising fantasy\, touching meaning and achieving ‘concrete irrationality’. \nBy inviting Léo Caillard\, whose work originally attracted attention by transforming ancient statues into veritable preppies\, Dali Paris wishes to initiate a dialogue on ancient heritage and how it has endured through the centuries\, like these Venuses subjected to morphological distortions. The transformation of the divine Heracles into an urban hipster explores the notion of identity\, and through this benevolent transgression\, the artist ‘exposes the individuals we are today\, shaped by social codes and style’. Does this intrusion of modernity into the Platonic ideal of beauty aim\, like Dali’s obsession with form\, to counteract the natural ravages of time and conquer death by achieving immortality through art? \nFor Leo Caillard\, as for Dali\, ‘encountering history’ is ‘a means of understanding time’. But this quest for understanding is much broader for these two artists fascinated by science\, Dali with the emergence of the atomic bomb and Léo Caillard with the rise of quantum physics. Although this discipline is only intended for an informed audience\, it remains a source of fascination and even fantasy\, much like quantum computers\, which are capable of executing the most powerful algorithms. Based – in very simplified terms – on the simultaneous existence of bodies in multiple states\, it questions the limits of perception. By dressing statues or depicting them as blurred and distorted\, was Léo Caillard not seeking to make us reflect on the possible superimposition of incompatible states? \nIncompatible\, or rather unthinkable\, our states of mind during the period that has just passed seem to have been profound. With our horizons constrained and our frames of reference redefined\, our perception of things and time has hardened and become fixed. \nIn an attempt to soften these psychological angles\, Dali Paris invites you to witness an intimate dialogue between two artists and appreciate modern and contemporary aesthetics of timeless beauty. This gives rise to reflections on material and intellectual sustainability at a time when instantaneity and transience dominate information\, the economy and even human relationships. Are we able to accept the simultaneous existence of several hypotheses without becoming polarised\, like Schrödinger’s cat?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\nSi Dali est mis à l’honneur à Dali Paris pour son œuvre picturale\, graphique et sculpturale\, il nous semblerait incomplet d’ignorer sa fascination pour la photographie\, dont il fait fréquemment usage dans ses collages\, mais aussi dans ses collaborations avec Man Ray\, Brassaï ou Cecil Beaton. Certes Dali est le sujet de nombreuses photographies\, particulièrement de Robert Descharnes et Enrique Sabater\, et même sa signature en forme de couronne est directement inspirée du fameux Milk Spout de Harold Edgerton\, première utilisation du stroboscope dans la photographie en 1936. \nMais l’intérêt de Dali pour la diffraction du temps ne s’arrête pas au symbole\, il est aussi à l’origine d’une référence de l’imaginaire collectif : Dali Atomicus. Ce cliché réalisé avec Philippe Halsman\, en 1948\, pour le magazine Life où tout semble être en suspension : chats\, chaise\, eau\, Dali lui-même apparaît d’une incroyable spontanéité. Pourtant des heures de travail et de nombreux essais infructueux se cachent derrière cet instant magique. Présentant en arrière-plan l’huile Leda Atomica\, cette photographie est révélatrice de la passion de Dali pour la science\, dans le contexte de peur atomique d’après-guerre. Elle illustre la conception atomique dalinienne : « Tout doit être en suspension comme dans un atome ». \n « Dans un premier temps\, Dali utilise l’image photographique comme une instance médiatrice qui lui permet de contrôler ses pulsions et de définir précisément les objets. Elle alimente ensuite son activité paranoïaque-critique et favorise son exploitation du concept de comestibilité. Elle assure enfin la réification de l’artiste et la diffusion de son image théâtralisée dans la presse. Les photographies\, au service de la construction de l’identité comme de l’art de Dali\, acquièrent ainsi une valeur\, concrète ou métaphorique\, de portraits. » (Aufraise\, 2013) \nCette interpénétration de la science et de l’art se retrouve dans le travail de Seung Hwan OH. Photographe féru de science\, cet artiste coréen prend en premier lieu des portraits (puis des nus) fixant ainsi sa vision. Puis il matérialise la distorsion du temps. La matière semble déchirée\, altérée. Cette transformation du réel ne vient pas d’une transformation digitale\, mais bien d’une action naturelle. Les photographies sont plongées dans un bain de moisissures et de bactéries qui « se nourrissent » du réel pour le métamorphoser et transfigurer ces personnages dans un univers à la fois psychédélique de par ses couleurs\, mais aussi anxiogène – l’ère atomique a laissé place à l’ère bactériologique -. Ainsi\, selon l’artiste\, c’est ce qui disparait qui créé l’image\, interrogeant ainsi que ce qui persiste\, une thématique obsessionnelle de l’immortalité de l’œuvre artistique face à l’impermanence de la beauté physique. \nDe l’imaginaire d’Alice aux pays des merveilles à l’angoisse des œuvres de Francis Bacon présentées conjointement\, les photographies de Seung Hwan OH intensifient les couleurs d’un dialogue artistique dramaturgique. \nI am text block.
